Earlier this year the UK games industry won it’s 7 year battle for tax breaks when the European Commission finally gave them the green light. To ensure North East games companies understand how to apply these new rules and benefit from the breaks, Digital Union are running a workshop on the 17th June at Northern Design Centre starting at 12noon.
Although this is great news for the UK games industry, the approval of tax breaks does not mean all UK-based companies will benefit.
Projects must pass a cultural test and points are awarded for the amount of development undertaken in the UK, the fact that certain job roles are carried out by UK staff and whether at least half the game’s overall team are from the UK.
