Digital Scale Up Programme

Scaling a business is a journey, one with many obstacles as well as ups and downs. Successfully negotiating the route forward is a mammoth task for all, but presents far greater challenges for developing companies who have limited resources to draw upon.

Generator’s Digital Scale Up Programme is designed specifically to help these companies.

Who’s it for?

The Scale Up Programme is designed for those businesses that are at a critical stage in their development. Past the start-up phase and progressing toward becoming more established.  We are looking for businesses who have already grown organically to a reasonable size (6+ employees) and ready to double that, but not sure how to get there.

The programme has been developed to provide ambitious North East based Digital SMEs with the right conditions to achieve full growth potential, increased turnover and an expanded workforce.

How does it work?

You will be provided with a diagnostic on entering the programme to form a solid understanding of your business so we can deliver objective assistance. This is delivered in the form of interim support from highly experienced specialists – people who have been through the loop, ex business leaders with broad experience and the ability to share it effectively. Areas of support may include FinanceSalesMarketing or Investment and will be complemented by access to a sector specific mentor bank providing additional support.

Over the 12-month period, we will determine your status, and how you can develop toward realistic longer-term goals, providing clarity over the key stages involved. We will determine a clear plan with you and your leadership, that will be shared throughout the business, so that everyone has a clear vision of the future and their part in the success.

We guarantee delivery of the tools, strategies and processes that are the backbone to success, and to develop your ability to move your business to the next level, but only you can make it happen.  You must be able to commit the time and resources over the 12-month programme to guarantee success.

Does it work?

We’ve worked with many Digital (Creative Digital, Software and other Tech) businesses that have already scaled between 200% and 300% within 2 years of coming to us, so we know this works.

We took a snap shot of 18 North East digital agencies from almost 180 tech businesses we’ve supported since December 2013 and the figure for jobs created from those 18 business is 649. Our support for these businesses came when they were smaller operations lacking the experience and leverage often required to expand and Generator’s interventions helped in almost doubling their sizes.

One of the region’s leading software companies, Gospelware – who are on course for a record year of growth – successfully completed Generator’s 6-month Digital Scale Up pilot, and were delighted by the results. The pilot programme resulted in Gospelware being able to employ their own full-time Financial Director.

Managing Director, Ryan Davies, said: “The support we received from Generator from the Digital Scale Up Programme was fantastic – it really helped us align our financial goals around monthly output and helped us with process for reviewing. Our interim Financial Director was a great guy to work with, providing us with a wealth of knowledge and experience”.
