Skills for Music, Theatre and Performing Arts Delivered by Generator

Skills for Growth - What’s the offer?

Free flexible courses for individuals of up to 16 weeks to build sector-specific skills.

With support from Newcastle Gateshead Cultural Venues, Generator will lead on a 3-year project to address skills needs, stimulate employment and entrepreneurship, and ultimately grow the live performance and music industries in the North of Tyne Combined Authority region.

Who is this for?

Anyone regardless of age or background based in the area and looking to develop skills for jobs in the Culture, Creative and Tourism sectors. Plus, those already in the industry looking to develop further skills or retrain.

How does it work?

We offer bespoke training solutions which are designed to bridge skills gaps within the sectors. By having the employer at the centre of training and development, we aim to equip people with the skills they need to secure roles in the creative industry.

What will the curriculum be?

Curriculum development and review will be led by current industry professionals in direct collaboration with educators, overseen by Generator’s Music Industry Advisory Group, ensuring that course content is up to date and fit-for-purpose, giving participants the best possible chance of a sustainable career in the chosen field, and giving regional venues and organisations the opportunity to directly address skills gaps that currently hamper recruitment.

Qualifications at Level 3 will focus on giving every participant an awareness and understanding of industry concepts, terminology and safe working practises so every completing learner will be “job-ready” at that point, and the opportunity to specialise with qualifications at Level 4 and above.
