North East Insurance Disruptors honcho Reveals Four New Tech Recruits

HOT ON THE HEELS of its nationwide launch, tech insurance innovators honcho have recruited four new members of staff as it gears up for further growth throughout the United Kingdom.

From l/r: Ian Porritt (Developer), Faith Chipuriro (Intern Developer), Frank Speight (Commercial Director), Adam Preston (Developer), Nathan Sanderson (Developer)

honcho – the world’s first “reverse auction marketplace” for insurance – has enjoyed thousands of app downloads since launching in August 2019 and, with plans to expand into new markets in the New Year, and further investment into the company planned, it has taken the decision to add to its team to keep pace with demand for its services.

As part of its new look workforce, honcho has welcomed the arrival of three new developers (Ian Porritt, Adam Preston and Nathan Sanderson) and a tech intern (Faith Chipuriro) to its team and is expected to undertake a major recruitment drive in the early part of 2020.

Frank Speight, honcho Commercial Director, explains: “Some of our new members are seasoned hands with deep domain knowledge and expertise, whilst others are just starting out on their career paths.

“We think they will be a great cultural fit in terms of the honcho tribe. They have a willingness to embrace a bit of chaos and uncertainty and have the passion and a commitment to the cause. They also have courage – the courage to think differently, the courage to wrestle with complexity, and the courage to do things with great speed whilst being uber-adaptable.

“While London may remain as the centre of the fintech innovation universe, the gravitational pull of the North East should not be underestimated and it’s great that some of our new team have chosen to relocate here. We believe the North East is getting stronger. There exists a mutualism, a symbiotic relationship between honcho and the region, and common desire to express our unique identities and to make a difference.”

Honcho’s new Developer, the 22-year-old Adam Preston from Birmingham, continues: “What first attracted me to honcho was the idea. I thought the idea of getting insurers to bid against each other allowed so much more scope for competition.

“I’ve been going to interviews all over the country but finding a job that I was really passionate about was the reason I’ve come here. The passion, optimism and the positivity from its people I felt was immediate. It was a bit of a gamble moving somewhere completely new, but it’s paid off.”

honcho, which last month was confirmed as one of 23 companies across the UK to join Tech Nation’s 2019 FinTech Programme, will now look to hire an additional ten people over the coming 12 months.

“There will be opportunities within our technology team next year as well as in product development, both on the honcho platform itself and running alongside that the services available on that platform,” adds Frank Speight.

“We will also be looking to bolster our marketing team as well as the commercial side where we will be looking for charismatic relationship managers bursting with patience and stamina.”

Disruptive and innovative, honcho is now live in the car insurance market.
honcho is free to download from both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
