Festival Awards: Best in the Field

The UK Festival Awards took place this week featuring Michael “I’m just a farmer, really” Eavis in shorts and an Outstanding Contribution to Festivals Award for Bestival Founder Rob da Bank.

The event took place on Monday 1st December at The Roundhouse venue in London, with winners including Glastonbury for Best Major Festival, The Secret Festival for Best New Festival and V Festival for Best Toilets. The Libertines walked away with Headline Performance Of The Year for their show at British Summer Time, Hyde Park and Best Metropolitan Festival went to Live at Leeds.

Festival Awards Director Steve Jenner said: “Another outstanding summer has made this year’s voting and judging a hugely exciting but also challenging task. So many events have put on an exceptional show and we’re thrilled to be able to praise many of them”.

In addition, We Are FSTVL were awarded Best Medium sized Festival and Wolf Alice were named Best Breakthrough Artist.

720,000 audience members voted in the public award categories this year, an increase of 25% on last year.
