Momentum gains further…Momentum

Funding for the Momentum Music Fund has been extended for another year after completing its initial two-year pilot. The scheme was created by Arts Council England (ACE) and delivered by PRS for Music Foundation. It started in 2013 and aims to support the development of artists who are already established to an extent and help them progress to the next stage of their careers.

Artists including East India Youth, Dutch Uncles, Women’s Hour, Beth Jeans Houghton and These New Puritans have all benefited from grants of between £5,000-£15,000. The next phase aims to enable partners to support more artists to develop nationally, whilst measuring the fund’s impact on the 70 artists it’s funded over the past two years.

Executive Director of PRS for Music Foundation Vanessa Reed said: “This additional investment will result in further evidence to help us do more for music talent, and will show how we can continue to make a real difference to artists – that, after all, is what we should be about. Over the last two years Momentum has attracted a huge range of applications from artists who need help to boost their career. Those selected for support include many of England’s most talented artists who are now receiving nominations for awards such as the Mercury Prize, BRIT Awards, BBC Sound Poll and many more”.

The next deadline for the fund is 10th February 2015, Click here to find out more about the Momentum Fund.
