ASTRONOMYY

This one-man Worcestershire-based project has coughed up a couple of dreamy, mid-tempo tracks that have caught our ears this week. The most recent of the two, the suitably gorgeous ‘Things I’d Do For U’, builds upon a gentle, primitive guitar and vocal opening section before growing through the introduction of electric beats, handclaps and additional Blood Orange-esque reverb rich guitars.

Justifying Astronomyy’s self-confessed “Surf/R’n’B” tag, the song finds an attractive balance between beats and melody and has, perhaps predictably, drawn likeness with James Blake and The xx. Nevertheless, ‘Things I’d Do For You’ is great introduction to another elusive but thoroughly exciting new artist.
