This week we continue our latest feature on the Tipping Point, spotlighting the biggest and best emerging acts from across the UK. Each Monday, we ask one of our esteemed tippers to select five of their hottest tips to be featured on the site throughout the week.

Next up we have Harriet Willis, a gig promoter/music journo freelancer/events and marketing assistant based in Sheffield. Having already worked with the likes of Tom Grennan, Cosmo Pyke and Let’s Eat Grandma, Harriet now promotes Scruff Of The Neck shows in Sheffield alongside writing for publications including The National Student and The Skinny. Check out Harriet’s tips below!

BLACK COUNTRY, NEW ROAD

These are a really new love of mine, I saw them at Green Man last week, they were standing in for Kokoko!. It was infatuating and mesmerising. The vocals are spoken word on top of a dirty bassline which is lightened by a saxophone and violin, honestly, it’s a treat.

KASHMERE

I first came across Kashmere at Dot to Dot, Manchester where I was stage managing. They were all dressed in swanky suits and had that ‘I’m in a band’ look (in a good way). Their tracks are so contagious, twinkly and funky, it’s just good, catchy, indie tunes.

PHOEBE GREEN

Phoebe Green’s music floats my boat in so many ways; her vocals are subtle and effortless and her band compliment this so well. The first single on Chess Club Records ‘Dreaming Of’ just pulled out every bit of potential and ability she and her band have. Phoebe’s tracks are dreamy and mellow but her latest release, ‘Easy Peeler’ has taken a turn and is a little rowdier.

CHERRY PICKLES

…will harden your nipples; my favourite album right now, I have it on loop. This duo from Birmingham are made up of Brazilian, Priscilla and British, Mimi but have a Californian desert twang to their sound. It’s ridiculously addictive, you just have to listen to believe the hype.

WITCH FEVER

A femme punk band from Manchester. They’re rowdy, in your face at every cost and keep you on edge. Their live performances are second to none, Each track is raw and noisy, they make a lot of racket on record and even more live. They’re definitely a band you have to catch live.
