ANNABEL ALLUM

Ahead of the release of her hugely anticipated ‘Absent’ EP, today’s tip comes from singer/songwriter and Guildford native Annabel Allum. ‘Absent‘ – the title track from Allum’s forthcoming EP is a brooding yet ethereal slow-burner, which showcases her unique writing style perfectly.

The track features a brilliant juxtaposition of erratic, distorted instrumental stabs and drones, alongside Allum’s beautiful, ‘Sharon Van Etten meets Wild Beasts‘ esque vocals. A sense of brutal honestly and nigh-on vulnerability shines through when listening to her lyrics, which (when captured as well as Annabel Allum has done) is something that the very best of songwriters strive to achieve when writing. With an abundance of critical acclaim coming her way of late, and a number of special shows in the pipeline, you’d be a fool not to catch Annabel now before she’s propelled into inevitable stardom.

Absent‘, the EP by Annabel Allum is released on Monday 10th August via Till Deaf Do Us Party Records.
