BOKITO

The Great Escape is just around the corner and one band that we recommend you definitely see are Bokito, whose bouncy indie is sure to cause a ruckus in Brighton.

The London band, who have members from Ireland, claim they are after one thing, to make us dance and the bass bounce of ‘Better At Getting Worse’ certainly achieves that – the keyboards in the song even have a joyful skip to them. Instrumentally it’s a new hybrid of early Bombay Bicycle Club’s playful riffs with the fun oddness of Vampire Weekend.

The song boasts a great vocal from frontman Moses, whose Irish gruff tone fits well over the track. The song even has a brief cool down before the final chorus where the band bring in backing vocals which certainly have an Afrobeat influence, like a brief taste of Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Be sure to check them out if you’re at The Great Escape. The festival is all about the best emerging talent and Bokito are most certainly a band who seem to have a surefire barrel of hits to throw our way in the future.
