CHERRYADE

Today’s Tipping Point comes from mysterious London-based duo Cherryade and their new track ‘The Crown’.

If you like attitude driven, explicit rap-pop this is for you. The Gold Panda-like samples, sharp synths and undeniable English accent puts this act in a place between MIA and Charli XCX.

This does not mean that the group do not come without their own individuality. Their lyrics are originally provocative; on one level the song resonates as a noughties school-girl diss track with one of the stand out lyrics of the track being: ‘you wear the crown but it’s got nits’. The chorus is an earworm and something about the track suggests that the duo would be a great live act.

‘The Crown’ is about the fact that no matter where you are in the world, people will laugh at your drive and your ambitions. The track has a positive and humorous quality to it that keeps you hooked from beginning to end and we can’t wait to hear more.
