Games Without Frontiers

After announcing the endgame for its own Music Unlimited streaming service, Sony Network Entertainment International has announced a global partnership with Spotify that will see Spotify deliver its service to Playstation Network’s 64 million active users.

Detailed here in blog post entitled ‘Playstation Meet Spotify’, Spotify on PlayStation Music will roll out in over 40 markets this Spring including the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy and will also be accessible through Xperia smartphones and tablets. Users will be able to listen to playlists whilst playing on games.

Spotify CEO and Founder Daniel Ek said: “We are incredibly honoured to partner with Sony and PlayStation to give gamers around the world an amazing experience wherever they listen to music, As a gamer and PlayStation 4 user myself, I’m super excited to be able to soundtrack my FIFA 15 Arsenal matches later this spring”.

Prior to the launch, Sony’s rather doomed Music Unlimited service (formerly known as ‘Qriocity’ lest we forget) will close in all 19 countries on 29th March 2015.

If you can’t beat em, join em- With this and the partnership with ‘transportation platform’ Uber, Spotify are likely to be everywhere you turn soon- from cutting edge barber shops to public toilets in which you can “curate” your own comfort break.
