LAURA WELSH

Since being featured on The Tipping Point back in May, London girl Laura Welsh has been working on new material with Dev Hynes (Blood Orange/Test Icicles/Lightspeed Champion) and ‘Unravel’ is the first track to emerge from their sessions. It is a perfectly produced slice of uplifting pop music met with heartbreaking lyrics that channel the anthemic style and power of Florence Welsh whilst maintaining a whiff of originality that ties in with Laura’s previous tunes ‘Hollow Drum’ and ‘Call To Arms’. What’s more, having racked up over 30,000 SoundCloud plays in just over a week, it’s fair to say that the people like what they hear.

Though emerging into a busy field of great female artists like Adele, Flo and Jessie Ware; Laura Welsh seems to have the right idea here. Her progression has been marked since 2010’s Laura and the Tears, right through to Hey Laura and now to the music she creates under the name her mother gave her. Doubtless, under the wing of one of the brightest indies going at the moment – Luv Luv Luv RecordsLaura Welsh will become a household name in the not too distant future.
