MiNNETONKA

Depending on where you look, MiNNETONKA is either a city, a lake or a mocassin. Turn your attention to the Wirral though and it means something entirely different, something remarkable, wistful and mesmeric.

The musical nom de plume of Emma Leatherbarrow, MiNNETONKA is home to music that seems to both come from and put you in a dreamlike state. There is an honesty and purity to her sound, a gentle nudging sincerity wrapped in a mythical dressing that no doubt comes from her fascination with the subconscious and a desire to write about her own life and experiences.

Her latest track ‘Birds of Prey’ seems to float in between the lines of reality, existing between the planes of conscious and unconscious awareness. Whispered vocals drift seamlessly atop languid beats and synth lines to create a cosmic and otherworldly soundscape, all misty and ethereal gorgeousness. It feels secretive and intimate yet simultaneously open and expansive.

Close your eyes, let your mind wander and MiNNETONKA will carry you off on a wave of beguiling, beautiful melodies and vocals into a world of dreamy loveliness.
