SAM FENDER

Having already made it to #1 in the iTunes Singer Songwriter chart, become record of the week on Virgin Radio and only just missed out on the #1 slot on Spotify’s UK Viral chart due to Harry Styles’ dominance, Sam Fender is back with his pulsating new single, ‘Play God’. The track has already featured on MistaJam’s Radio1 show as well as being lauded by none other than Elton John via his Beats residency.

‘Play God’ is both a reminder of what Sam has already accomplished in the past (previously supporting the likes of Hozier and Catfish and the Bottlemen) and a sign of what we can expect in the future.

The track itself is a collision of heavier indie and soulful vocals whilst also highlighting the strength in Sam Fender’s storytelling ability as we are taken through the bleak setting where the ‘sewer rats rush out the underground in a race to make ends meet’. For those who are still mourning the loss of The Maccabees then Sam Fender certainly deals a strong hand in darker indie-pop.
