Songkick: Power Surge

Songkick has merged with CrowdSurge to create what will be the world’s largest artist-to-fan ticketing platform. The newly combined entity will trade as Songkick, which frankly The Gen is relieved about, shuddering at the mere thought of a company called ‘Song Surge’.

Songkick co-founder and CEO Ian Hogarth said: “One of the biggest challenges facing the concert industry is that on average between 40% and 50% of concert tickets go unsold, simply because fans don’t know a show is happening. Songkick and CrowdSurge have both been tackling this problem independently, and together, we’ll make it easier for more fans to go to more shows, while helping to ensure sell-out audiences for artists”.

Founded in London in 2008, CrowdSurge is an artist-to-fan ticketing company, with clients including Paul McCartney and Imagine Dragons.

The idea is for the companies to combine their technologies and clients to create an almighty concert tracking direct-to-fan behemoth service.
