SUNTRAPP

I’ve noticed that, as our glorious week of deliriously sunny summer fun begins to fade and those beautiful blue clouds are replaced by significantly darker greys, our Tipping Point selections have become more and more infatuated with clinging on to our tropical climes. It’s almost as if we’re trying to trap the sun.

Funny that. Today’s track just happens to come from Suntrapp, the latest project from Newcastle’s Jake Houlsby. Jake’s first gig under the Suntrapp guise saw him pack out Blast Studios on a hectic Evolution Emerging night and with 6 Music’s Lauren Laverne already tweeting praise, Houlsby seems to be building a bit of a following.

On latest track ‘All The Seas’, it’s easy to see why. Easing its way in with some delicate, fingerplucking goodness, the track soon transforms into a fragile, folk-pop onslaught. Combined with its lustful melodies and Jake’s gentle and tender vocal delivery this track acts a charming, subtle and worthy introduction to Suntrapp’s rising star.
