TENTERHOOK

It’s been a sharp rise to prominence for young Londoner Archie Faulks, whose new project ‘Tenterhook’ has already set the blogosphore alight with dazzled interest as we emerge into 2014. Standing as last year’s winner of the Song Academy’s Young Songwriter Award in the 13-18 year old category, Faulks’ debut effort ‘Stereo’ is an incredibly striking example of this young artist’s potential.

Co-written with Gerard O’Connell, ‘Stereo’ thrusts Faulks to the front immediately and captures vocals that occasionally strike of Bon Iver. Coated with a pop sensibility, the track steadily builds with gentle instrumentation before reaching a passionate, tempestuous climax with crashing percussion and an energetic piano line that leads the listener out in a soothing outro.

Reportedly a classically trained vocalist, and a self taught pianist, guitarist, and percussionist, Archie Faulks is most certainly an artist to watch out for in 2014.
