TOTT 2015 #3: C DUNCAN

At #3 is this year’s safe bet – C Duncan!

Let’s face it, it’s no real surprise C Duncan has made it onto our Top Of The Tips list for 2015. The Scottish composer has had a whirlwind of a year performing at festivals including Latitude and Green Man and topped it off with a Mercury Prize nomination in October which has really opened his music up to the masses.

The multi-instrumentalist from Glasgow released his debut album Architect via Fat Cat Records back in July and has earned plenty of plaudits since, having produced the entire record in his home studio and created the artwork himself which is certainly no mean feat.

Lead single ‘Garden’ was featured on The Tipping Point last summer and was greeted with plenty of praise, with it’s mesmerising dream pop qualities making it one of the standout tracks of the year. It’s jangly guitars and sixties influences and a perfect combination and resulted in it being playlisted on BBC 6 Music, another achievement which was wholly deserved.

Perhaps most impressive of all however is the fact he managed to achieve this all by himself! This will give many others out there plenty of hope… if you’ve got the talent and fancy turning your home into a studio, why not do it the Christopher Duncan way!?
