Ward Hadaway sets out to attract investment to Newcastle at MIPIM 2018

Ward Hadaway is attending one of the biggest events in the international property industry calendar when it heads to MIPIM in Cannes next month as part of a delegation to attract investment to Newcastle.

More than 24,000 people are expected to attend this year’s four-day MIPIM event, which takes place from 13 to 16 March in Cannes, France. It will provide opportunities for the region to make connections with top overseas and UK investors and developers, showcasing the range of development opportunities in the North East.

Ward Hadaway is one of only two North East law firms to be attending as part of the Newcastle at MIPIM partnership.

Inward Investment Director at Invest Newcastle, Catherine Walker said: “The Invest Newcastle Pavilion at MIPIM 2018, is a true show of strength from the North East with public and private sectors joining forces to promote Newcastle and the wider region as an exciting and vibrant place to do business. We are delighted that leading North East law firm Ward Hadaway has decided to join us and be part of this collaboration.

“This year’s partnership is testament to our growing reputation as one of the UK’s fastest-growing places in which to invest, develop or locate a business and it’s great that this year, not only are we taking a record number of partners with us, but we’re joined by seven brand new partners who have never attended the show before.”

Alex Wright, a Partner in the Property team at Ward Hadaway’s Newcastle office will be attending with Banking and Finance Partner, Mark Smith.

Alex, who advises clients on commercial property sales and acquisitions of industrial, retail, office and development property as well as in relation to investment portfolios, said: “We are delighted to be part of the North East delegation going to MIPIM in Cannes this year to do business. Our region has a lot to shout about when it comes to property transactions and the event is a great opportunity to spread the word about the North’s capabilities to a national and international audience.

“We work with a wide range of private and public sector clients in helping to deliver developments across the region so we’re hoping that we will come back to the UK having forged new relationships and built on existing ones.”

Mark added: “We are really looking forward to meeting and connecting with new clients, investors and developers and see MIPIM as a chance to promote Newcastle as an exciting place to do business.”
