The Programme

To build a successful, innovative business requires more than hard work and a good idea. The principles required combine a clear strategy enabled by a great team, pursuing a responsive relevant, market with access to effective support.

The journey starts with your ability to clearly communicate the innovation you are bringing to the market, together with a clear strategy for the direction of the business. Your next challenge is to convince investors and the market that you can execute your plan, and deliver a credible and winning strategy.

We are here to help. We have developed a 10-week programme of support that will help you and your business shape and refine your innovative idea to validate your commercial proposition.

Week 1: Programme Kick Off Day with full cohort (9am – 5pm)

Week 2 – 6: 1-1 Delivery focusing on individual business needs

Week 7: Cohort Day – Group proposition presentation development (9am – 5pm)

Week 8: Cohort Day – Individual review and forward development plan (9am – 5pm)

Week 9: Cohort Day – Review (9am – 5pm)

Week 10: Presentation to Investment Panel

Timescales

Innovate:Grow takes place in Newcastle (May) and Sunderland (September) 2019.

Closing Date for Applications: 22 March 2019

Shortlisting: 27 March 2019

Interviews: 3 & 4 April 2019

Start Date: 1 May 2019

Applications will re-open in the summer for the Sunderland cohort in September.

The Investment

Northstar Ventures will provide £15,000 to each business in the form of a convertible loan.

  • The loan does not carry interest or require security
  • If you raise investment the loan plus a 20% redemption premium will convert into shares on the same terms as new investors.
  • If after 18 months there is no investment and the company is trading, the loan and redemption premium will become repayable in equal monthly installments over 18 months
