Face value secondary ticketing platform Twickets and ethical ticket exchange The Ticket Trust have announced a strategic alliance. The two platforms will aim to offer better access to face value festival ticket re-sales as the summer festival season starts.
The Ticket Trust was launched in 2011 by the Association Of Independent Festivals in partnership with ethical merchandising Company Sandbag in response to the problem of the secondary market.
Co-founder and Vice Chair of AIF Ben Turner said: “As we move into 2014 secondary ticketing continues to dominate the live music agenda, pushing up prices for music fans and potentially stunting independent festival growth. This partnership is a fantastic step in combating secondary ticketing and gives any tickets listed on our Ticket Trust exchange platform added exposure, to the tune of 200,000 fans”.
Twickets’ Founder Richard Davies added: “The Ticket Trust has the same ethical approach to the secondary market that we have at Twickets and we’re delighted to join forces to attempt to stamp out profiteering from fans”.
All tickets on-sale on the Ticket Trust for AIF Member Festivals including Bestival and Secret Garden Party will also be promoted through Twicket’s channels. As reported, the Government recently formed an All Party Ticketing Abuse Group with the aim of investigating ticketing abuse and tackling fraud in the secondary market.
