The Common Room, Newcastle

Art of the Album Day is a full-day deep dive into the creative and practical process of making and releasing a record - from the first lyric to the final campaign. Through panels, in-conversations and masterclasses, you’ll explore every stage of the journey: songwriting, production, marketing and release strategy.

Hear from some of the biggest names shaping the sound and culture of British music right now, including Sam Spencer, Executive Vice President at Atlantic Records and one of the creative forces behind Charli XCX’s BRAT. There’ll be a live edition of The Record Club podcast with BBC Radio 1’s Jess Iszatt in conversation with 2024 Mercury Prize winners English Teacher, who’ll share their journey from grassroots Northern artists to national success.

You’ll also get the chance to learn from industry legend Bernard Butler in an intimate songwriting masterclass, and connect directly with YouTube Music to explore how to build community, reach fans and maximise visibility in today’s digital landscape.

Whether you’re an emerging artist or an established professional, this is a rare opportunity to get in the room with the people defining how records are made and heard in 2025.
