Interval Records’ and Generator’s Josh Daniel named among elite additions to influential group.

The head of an independent North East record label and chief commercial officer of the north’s leading music development agency has been named among an elite group of individuals who will steer BPI’s Equity and Justice Advisory Group (EJAG).

Josh Daniel, who operates dual roles as the head of Interval Records and the chief commercial officer of Generator, has been appointed to the advisory group within the BPI, which itself is the representative voice for the UK’s world-leading record companies and label businesses. Josh joins a host of prestigious names on the advisory board, which is chaired by Yolanda Brown OBE .

He said: “I’m very proud to join such a prestigious board and look forward to contributing to its work. The appointment is a massive honour for me personally, but it also speaks to the wider work the teams are doing at Generator and Interval Records to widen access and opportunity across the industry.

“We’ve always believed that national and international music businesses and artist careers can be built from anywhere in the UK, and I’m proud to play a role in ensuring that thinking is reflected in national conversations.”

In all, seven new members drawn from across the industry, each of whom bring with them a breadth of lived experience and expertise, have been appointed.

Chaired by BPI Chair YolanDa Brown OBE DL, with Alex Hannaby as its Deputy Chair and supported by BPI’s Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Hailey Willington, EJAG is a diverse and intersectional board of music and creative industry professionals who assist the BPI in advocating for the progression of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) across the sector. EJAG works to support the BPI’s Five-Year DEI Strategy and Vision, and, when required, also acts as a ‘critical friend’ to enable collaborative and inclusive change in the industry.

BPI Chair, YolanDa Brown OBE DL, and Chair of EJAG, said: “On behalf of EJAG, we are delighted to welcome our new members and look forward to being able to draw on their breadth of lived experience and knowledge as we build on our important work advocating for a more diverse, equitable and inclusive industry.

“We owe a huge debt to our EJAG founder members after a near-decade of valued service and commitment, and we thank them for their dedication, wisdom, and all that they have contributed.”
