When we say you gain hands-on experience through our L3 Tech Skills programme, we mean it. This summer, our summer cohort had the incredible opportunity to put their training into practice at one of the UK’s biggest festivals, Kendal Calling, supporting our very own Roots Stage.

The Technical Skills for the Live Sector Skills Bootcamp is a 10-week programme designed to give you the tools, knowledge, and confidence to pursue a career in the live sector, right here in the North East.

During the bootcamp, you’ll learn directly from industry professionals who learn what it takes to succeed behind the scenes. Through classroom sessions and live venue visits to the likes of Northern Stage, Utilita Arena and The Cluny, gaining practical experience in stage basics, lighting & rigging, counterweight flying, sound basics and more.

By the end of the bootcamp, you’ll be ready to take your first steps into the fast-paced world of live events.

Earlier this month, our students took everything they’d learned from the bootcamp and put this into action at the major UK festival, Kendal Calling. From working alongside seasoned professionals to seeing the buzz of a festival crowd up close, it was a prime front seat opportunity to experience the industry at its best.

Since completing the programme

Since completing the programme, students from previous cohorts have gone on to work in various roles from backstage crew at local, legendary venues, take on contracts within technical theatre and even festival organisation.

How to take part

The Technical Skills for the Live Sector Skills Bootcamp opens the door to the live events and music industry, no matter your background or experience. It’s a unique chance to gain hands-on experience behind the scenes, while building the skills that will kick-start your career within live events.
