In partnership with Nrthrn Baby, a Newcastle-based music and culture agency championing underrepresented genres such as rap, R&B, and Afrobeats in the region.
In June 2024, we piloted a songwriting weekend with Nrthrn Baby, featuring four NoT artists. The programme offered 16 hours of studio time across the weekend, songwriting and recording sessions with a specialist producer, and a professional video shoot.
The objective of this partnership is to develop our work with artists from underrepresented genres. We recognise the need to diversify our recruitment and better engage artists from the Global Majority and those working within hip-hop, grime, and R&B - genres that remain underrepresented in the North East music industry.
Following the success of the first two songwriting weekends, we’re excited to open applications for the next Songwriting Camp cohort.
You’ll leave with:
16 hours of studio time across the weekend
A fully mixed and mastered group track
A professional music video
PRS membership
Please note that Next Up is open to 18–25-year-olds, and we welcome applications from both artists and producers.
Applicants must be available for the 21st + 22nd March
