OPEN CALL Mercury at Fenwick Fanzone

The Mercury Prize is coming to Newcastle, and we’re inviting artists from across the North East to be part of it.

On the day of the awards night, Fenwick Newcastle will host the Mercury at Fenwick Fanzone in its new pop up pub from 12–7pm. Six artists will be selected by Generator through this open call to perform as part of the official Mercury Prize Fringe, a week of more than 20 events across our region that spotlight the North East’s talent and creativity.

Each artist will play a 20-minute set, combining one acoustic cover of a track from this year’s Mercury Prize-shortlisted albums with up to three original songs. The showcase is open to all genres and artists are welcome to bring guitar, keys, or a simple backing track.

This is your chance to be part of the region-wide celebrations on the day of the awards, perform in the centre of Newcastle with the Mercury buzz all around, and have your music featured across Generator’s social channels. Artists will also receive a performance fee.

Applications close on 6 October, with selected artists announced on 10 October. Performances take place on 16 October at Fenwick Newcastle.
