Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Music Minds Matter is Help Musicians’ dedicated mental health support line and service for the whole UK music community.
If you work in music and are struggling to cope, or know someone who is, talk to us. It doesn’t have to be a crisis, or about music. We’re here to listen, support and help at any time.

Music Minds Matter is one of many ways the charity Help Musicians supports musicians throughout their lives and careers. Marking its 100th year in 2021, Help Musicians loves music so provides help, support and opportunities to empower professional musicians.

Why is this important?

While the music industry is returning to a greater semblance of normality, there is still significant uncertainty about what the next 12 months look like for professional musicians. Earlier in 2021 a survey by the charity Help Musicians found that 87% of the musicians who responded had seen their mental health deteriorate since the start of the pandemic. This has been reflected in an unprecedented demand for Music Minds Matter, which has nearly doubled in 2021.

As times continue to change and the future remains unclear, it’s okay to be struggling. We’re here to help you through these challenging times.

Elevate Music Podcast

Musicians can face a number of physical and mental issues in their career, and when untreated these can lead to real problems that can affect playing, confidence and the ability to work.

The good news is, the majority of these problems are preventable, but often musicians don’t know how to prevent the issues, or where to go when things go wrong.

This is why we created the Elevate Music Podcast - helping musicians to improve their health and wellbeing, one episode at a time.

Musicians' Stories

"It was a confidence boost that I desperately needed.” - Grace Gillespie

When COVID-19 gripped the world and national Lockdown was enforced, Grace's plans for her nearly completed EP came to a sudden halt. With Help Musicians' support Grace was able to record the rest of the tracks remotely, but the most critical aspect of support came, unexpectedly, in the form of mental health care, after it came to light that Grace was struggling with a severe anxiety disorder.

“Receiving funding meant that someone had listened to my songs and heard a future for me – something worth investing in, and someone worth helping. It was a confidence boost that I desperately needed.”

Jeauneil - "The business advice and mental health support helped tremendously"

We speak to supported-artist Jeauneil about the support he received from Help Musicians to focus on his music during lockdown. He delves into the benefits beyond the grant itself, such as the mental health support, mentoring and business advice sessions.
