Is Business Coaching For You?

Our business coaches have helped hundreds of businesses as part of our ERDF Digital Futures programme, here we hear from Sam Clegg who helped a website development and software design company based in the heart of Newcastle.

Woods & Walker

Woods & Walker had been steadily growing its number of clients and revenue over the past two years, and at the start of the coaching process it was on the cusp of taking this growth up a gear. Now that the team had all the work processes and experience in place, they were in a brilliant position to scale their business and take projects to the next level.

Oli and James, founders of Woods & Walker are ambitious, and understandably so, wanting to have a national presence within three years and citing the need for a strong pipeline of work as pivotal for them achieving this. They reached out to the Generator coaching provided by Highfly to help them specifically develop a marketing plan and strong brand identity to acquire bigger clients in the future.

Over six dedicated sessions Highfly worked with Woods & Walker to fully develop a brand identity and consistent marketing message in keeping with its objectives. This included starting off with a deep-dive into Woods & Walker’s current market position and service offering; mapping this against the founders’ personal and business objectives to ensure they were congruent. Then by analysing how the founders’ spent their time, identification of future roles for employees was created, before allowing Oli and James to focus on their most important daily activities.

Once objectives between the founders were solidified, a clear marketing plan for how to achieve these goals was created. Highfly worked with Woods & Walker to identify and map out full customer personas for its ideal customers – this included investigating the real values and objections these clients may have, and how the general brand image of Woods & Walker could alleviate this to maximise sales. With this information, effective and relevant copy and branding (mainly across LinkedIn and the company’s tender documentation) was developed to hit this target audience.

Throughout the process, Highfly helped Woods & Walker align its objectives, identify its target customer, and create a detailed and clear brand strategy. Since the coaching, Woods & Walker has continued its impressive growth; bringing in two significant new clients and projects – resulting in the company being firmly on track to meet set turnover and profit goals.

Woods & Walker is owned by a determined and hardworking duo; and undoubtedly the majority of its recent success is all down to the founders’ hard work. This said, the support offered by Highfly has certainly enabled Oli and James to develop their business and accelerate their growth.
