A regional team working nationally in practical hands on innovation is expanding its portfolio to offer project funding development services
+ADD funding will work with supply chains to establish consortia, build business cases, write bids and to provide project governance.
The broader business, +ADD Strategy works as an innovation partner with large and complex organisations to accelerate innovation, supporting change and transformation. The team specialise in design led and agile innovation support providing innovation strategy, systems, programme and project delivery, specialist accredited training and culture works.
Projects are often focussed on BIG issues and current projects include rethinking pothole management, improving sleep through new sensor intelligence and materials, improving water quality, making waste networks in water visible to reduce pollution and exploring smart meter roll out strategies.
The company is based in the North East but work across the UK. The team was established following some early success in developing innovation activities in support of Northumberland Water. This work led to the founder Paul Sutherland to achieve the Gem Partnerships award for impact on corporate innovation culture; a launchpad for business growth.

This has since led to work with nine water companies, engagement in broader energy and infrastructure initiatives, and contracts retaining the teams services for 2 years on ambitious innovation, change and transformation programmes.
The new service
The +ADD team has built a reputation for securing funding for innovative initiatives from diverse and non-traditional sources including industry and council sponsorships, corporate and supply chain contributions and a variety of other grants and interventions. To build on this capacity the business is investing in development of a new service.
The +ADD funding service will provide assistance to clients and supply chain consortia nationally seeking to secure funding and sponsorship for innovation projects.
Paul Sutherland of +ADD said,

Not all, but some include leading edge and emerging research and technology developments. Our focus is in de-risking faster progress and early adoption for both our corporate partners and supply chain’.
Introducing new expertise
Tony Brown, the new lead for +ADD Funding said,
‘I was drawn to +ADD as they are a ‘hands on’ commercial ‘results driven’ innovation business. They are sponsored by the private sector primarily and are growing due to the results they achieve.
Our focus is in supporting consortia funding for new initiatives involving pre-market and emergent concepts. Our work will focus on leveraging support
to de-risk and accelerate change in corporate supply chains +ADD is working in.
My ambition for the new unit is to realise some exciting projects efficiently with supply chain community UK wide. Our goal is to create exciting projects, reduce risk, enable commitment in supporting new thinking. We are looking to provide great results for all parties who work with us.’
Tony brings a strong track record in building collaborative projects, securing grant funding and sponsorship. He also has a depth of experience in providing project delivery to the government agency InnovateUK, part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is the national funding agency investing in science and research in the UK.
As well as succeeding in over 50 bids, Tony’s previous work includes delivery of due diligence and bid writing for a successful raises from £250k to £6m for a collaborative innovation and Research & Development projects.
