The North East’s Biggest Tech Careers Event Is Back
The North East’s largest tech-specific careers and opportunities fair is returning to the region for 2018. Relocating to central Newcastle for the first time since it began three years ago, Tech Talent 2018 will see 70 of the North East’s leading businesses, universities, colleges and training providers showcase the opportunities on offer.
The only event of its kind in the region, Tech Talent 2018 focuses on the technical and digital industries, bringing together businesses and talented job seekers. Over 1000 delegates are expected to attend the one-day event, which will take place at the Crowne Plaza on 24th May.
Following on from the success of 2017’s event, Tech Talent 2018 has relocated to Newcastle City Centre to make it easier for delegates from across the North East and wider UK to attend. The event is being advertised to graduates and professionals in Manchester, York, Leeds and Edinburgh, as well as the North East.
The event has already attracted the attention of some of the region’s most exciting employers, including Nissan, Seggezza, Zerolight and Tombola. In total, more than 70 exhibitors will be on hand to discuss the roles and opportunities on offer. Alongside technical and developer roles, exhibitors will be advertising jobs in marketing, sales, HR and finance.
Training providers, colleges and universities will also be attending to highlight different routes into the tech sector, such as degree paths, apprenticeships and retraining programs.
The event is once again being supported by Sunderland Software City (SSC), a project enabling the growth of the technology sector in the North East of England. Jill McKinney, SSC’s Head of Skills and Training, said: “Tech Talent’s relocation to a larger, more central venue offers the chance for even more businesses to get involved this year. It’s a great way to showcase what the region’s tech sector has to offer and creates an environment that allows attendees to discuss their career options in an informal setting.
“At SSC we work with a wide range of digital and technology businesses from across the North East, all of which have at some point struggled with the ‘digital skills gap’. Finding talented graduates and experienced professionals can be difficult, which is why Tech Talent was established in 2016 and why, this year, we’re also focusing on attracting talent from outside of the region.
“There will be a wide range of employers attending – several of the region’s largest tech companies have already taken advantage of the early bird rate. They are looking to fill a wide variety of roles across all job levels, so there will be vacancies to suit all levels of experience.”
The event is open to all technology businesses in the North East – both those where the core activity is developing technology, and those in other sectors which have in-house developer or technical roles. There are also discounted exhibition stands available for start ups and small businesses, to make it easier for them to attend.
Early bird rates end on 23rd March, get your tickets here.
