PR agency shortlisted for a global PR award

W Communications, the PR agency who established their W North operation in Newcastle just six months ago, have been shortlisted for a global PR award.

W, who set up their northern base in the city’s Toffee Factory on Ouseburn, are the sole UK-based operation on the Holmes Report’s Best Consumer PR agency shortlist, and will be up against three US and one Australian operation at the Global Sabre Awards, which take place in Miami at the end of October.

W’s acquisition of Newcastle agency Glue PR in March was cited in their shortlisting as proof of its ambitions to increase its reach in the UK. The Holmes Report praised important W campaigns for the likes of Ben & Jerry’s, which persuaded more than 5,000 young voters to register in time for the London Mayoral elections, and their Lynx deodorant campaign, which had a transformational effect on the debate around male mental health issues.

As well as its HQ in central London and its new Newcastle base, W also has growing operations in Singapore and Amsterdam.  Head of W North, Christian Cerisola, said: “Everyone at W is buzzing with this recognition. It’s wonderful that the North operations and Newcastle is being put on the global stage in this manner.

W founder Warren Johnson added: “Our work on delivering meaningful communications for clients into key communities across the UK, especially through our Newcastle office, remains a top priority for us. We will continue our aggressive growth of the team in the North East in the coming weeks.”
