New MEGS Artists Announced

Fans of music industry acronyms (and lets face it, who reading this isn’t?) will be pleased to hear that the BPI has announced the list of artists who will benefit from the latest round of grants from the Music Export Growth Scheme (MEGS), which is backed by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI). It is the seventh round of funding and the scheme aims to help UK-based independent labels, publishers and management firms to expand the international reach of their acts.

The artists to benefit from this round are: Catfish And The Bottlemen (pictured), Crystal Fighters, Denai Moore, Ephemerals, Kero Kero Bonito, Lower Than Atlantis, Martin Harley, Max McElligot, Moulettes, Petite Noir, The Bohicas, The Twilight Sad and Turbowolf, plus songwriters Greig Watts, Georgie Dennis and Christopher Wortley.

Trade & Investment Minister Francis Maude said: said: “The UK has a vibrant creative sector that generated over £17 billion in exports during 2013. The Music Export Growth Scheme has helped a new generation of British musical talent gain international recognition and boost the sales of UK music abroad; creating jobs and growth for the UK economy. I wish the latest recipients well as they grow their fan base abroad”.

Applications for the next round open on 26th October and close on 30th November this year.
