JAMIE GRIND

Leeds-based producer Jamie Grind certainly seems to be doing all of the right things. So far, he’s had remixes released on labels such as EMI and Wall Of Sound and he’s also done a mix for UK tastemaker site The Daily Street.

His latest track, ‘Something You Should Know’ showcases some of Jamie’s best skills, such as creating his own sound whilst paying homage to the sounds of classic house, UK garage, R&B and hip-hop. It is no surprise then that ‘Something You Should Know’ lends its sound in part to that 90s garage sound that is so hot right now. It also has a lovely R&B flavour that feels so right on the production.

The track skitters along with the help of infectious vocal loops that bubble to the surface and well thought out percussion that results in a groove that you just have to cut some shapes to. The use of ambient sound and field recordings in the introduction are also really refreshing.

It will be interesting to see what Jamie Grind has up his sleeve next, as his last name suggests, this lad is working hard and reaping the rewards.
