THE GREAT ESCAPE SHOWCASE PREVIEW – SOSHE

Newcastle three-piece SoShe have built up an increasing level of hype in the north, mixing live instrumentation with melodic vocals and razor sharp production, accentuated by lead singer Dayna’s charismatic performance and unshakable confidence. Creating everything from the artwork to the lyrics, SoShe broke into the London scene collaborating with grime emcee Cadet.

Alternative, RnB and pop influences shine through on ‘Showed Up’, the first single from their eagerly anticipated debut EP. A bass-heavy production, combined with Dayna’s strong vocals suggest that thumping beats like this are set to become SoShe’s calling card.

Produced by Dan Austin (Doves, Pixies), this is an accomplished and flawless introduction to a home-grown group that’s continuously gathering interest both regionally and nationally. With consistent airplay on BBC Introducing North East, this trio are on the verge of emerging onto the national scene with the support of the region behind them.

As well as their recent stint in the studio, SoShe supported rap legend Akala at Riverside in Newcastle, as well as performing at the O2 Academy Newcastle as part of Topman On Tour. Festival performances this year include Evolution Emerging, KendallCalling, Hardwick, and The Great Escape. Expect a powerful performance from this up-and-coming group.
