TGE PREVIEW – THE BIG MOON

Something a little different from us here at The Tipping Point this week as we feature some of our recent favorites rather than brand new artists. We’re still looking forward though, to this weekend and one of the largest new music showcases in Europe, The Great Escape festival in Brighton. Specifically, we’re looking forward to our own showcase at Komedia and the outstanding line-up we’ve got for you to enjoy. First up is London’s The Big Moon.

The indie four-piece appeared at number four in our Top of The Tips countdown, which was pretty impressive when you consider they only appeared for the first time in October. Since then their reputation as a storming live act has been strengthened and as well as our showcase, they have a string of festival appearances lined up for the summer. Oh, and there’s an album on the way too.

If recent track ‘Cupid‘ is anything to go by, it’s an album that’s well worth getting excited about. A gloriously melodic slice of indie, it bounces along playfully, willing you to get your mosh on. There’s something wonderfully carefree 90’s about it that we just adore and that chorus is so fantastically infectious that we can’t stop humming and singing it.

The retro-ish, distressed vocal sound rides the surf-pop vibe of the melody like a world champion and as the riffs kick in, the track kicks off as it leaps up into a mesmeric cavalcade of energy and effervescence. It is exactly the sort of song you want to see performed live. Be warned though, you’ll be sweaty and delirious with joy once it’s done.

The Big Moon play The Tipping Point showcase at Komedia, Brighton on Saturday 21 May, 12- 4pm.
