EVOLUTION EMERGING SPECIAL

Evolution Emerging is so close I can smell it. And it smells GOOD.

In this very special edition of The Tipping Point, we take you through everything you need to know to help you prepare to sniff out your new favourite band somewhere in one glorious night of FREE music. So sniff up, dive in and come and get a whiff of Evolution Emerging. It smells good.

TASTEMAKER TRAILS

First up, we asked some of our most prolific Tippers to give us their routes for Emerging. Here’s what they said:

Dan Carson
The Line Of Best Fit, NME, Artrocker
3200 Tigers – They’re got a pure, unashamed pop side but there’s hints of soul and RnB in there with the 808s and Abigail’s chocolatey vox. Their first show but I reckon they’ll be great fun.

Lionhall – Their Tiny Lights Christmas contribution was one of the loveliest things I’ve heard come out of the region for ages; really looking forward to seeing that xx-y, tenderness recreated live.

Goodbye Chanel – Scott’s influenced by some of my favourite bands of recent years so I was always gonna be a sucker for his dreamy, reverb-laced pop. ‘Liefe’ is killer tune.

Richard Smith – I must have seen Rich play a dozen sets with various bands over the years but I genuinely think he’s got his sound nailed as a solo act. The EP he put out last year was huge and so well-received. I was delighted for him.

Let’s Buy Happiness – Expecting queues out of the door and round the block for this one. They’ve been so patient over the years; gradually improving the live show and packing their sound out with loops and crunchier guitar parts. They’re on the cusp of something very big indeed.

I’m hoping to spend as much of my Evolution Emerging with Jurgen Klopp as possible, but football aside, I’ll be kicking off my trail with Dressed Like Wolves (8:30pm /Heart Attack & Vine) before making my way to either The Cluny or Tyne Bar. If I’m in a more melodic mood – it’ll be The Cluny for Eliza and the Bear and Shields, but if I’m feeling more dark and brooding, it’ll be the Tyne Bar for Rivals and Goy Boy McIlroy. After seeing GBM steal the show supporting Temples and Drenge the other week, I think I’m in need of another fix from them… Choices, choices, choices.
