‘Oh no! Not another acoustic singer-songwriter’. You and every other buggar would be forgiven for displaying obvious distain and cynicism, an attitude that is fast becoming the accompanying hashtag to anything relating to the ‘young man with an acoustic guitar’ genre. Meet 18 year old, Wolverhampton lad, Oliver Rudge. An artist ready turn that stereotype on its head with a sound, different to anything I have heard in the last ten years.

Immediately struck by originality and simplistic beauty, ‘I Will Be Your Sun’ swoons with thrilling rhythms and bright, metallic fingerpicking. Raw as it is refined, Rudge finds the balance between a hypnotic spacious delivery and bare-face bravery with the naked reveal of tender, fragile lyrics.

The track rolls and sways like an old Motown classic, with sweeping vocals bridging the lingering space and providing a passionate and dreamy result bordering on edgy pop-soul.

This track is just one of five from Ollie’s debut self released e.p which was released in April. You would be amiss to not check out the rest and having secured some pretty impressive Summer slot’s at Latitude, Glastonbury & Secret Garden Party, there are plenty of opportunities to see this fantastically talented ‘Tip’ in the fields this Summer.
