DIVE IN

When Dive In’s ‘Let Go’ premiered on Neon Gold, who very kindly drew comparisons to our very own Polarsets, the whole blogosphere was set alight with blistering excitement. While the blogosphere is known sometimes for it fanaticism about all new music, on this occasion Dive In hit a nerve that sparked more than a few careless words of praise. However within all of the furore, we learnt that this four piece hail from Glastonbury and, as This is Fake DIY rightly pointed out, they will have one eye of the Pyramid stage in years to come.

While the band have immediately drawn comparisons to French electronic outfit M83, Dive In manage to achieve a sound that is thoroughly ecstatic and injected with blissful veins, without it becoming saccharine. This is no easy balance to achieve, as we’ve seen most recently with the critical response to the joy overload of Youngblood Hawke. However Dive In’s ‘Let Go’ surely will not fall into the same trap, as its essence is far more layered and bound with a lasting melody that is highly infectious from the very first listen. With that said, the last thing we’ll be doing at Tipping Point towers is to let go of one of 2013’s most exciting acts.
