Ladders Music Course Stage 1: Knowledge & Awareness

This course will consist of 3 sessions dedicated to understanding the wider music industry, from the local scene to global organisations. The sessions will run over 3 weeks and will include guest speakers who will take you through their specialisms to give you a first-hand account of what a career in their field can offer you. From management to record labels, publishing to live agents, this insight will give you a clear overview of the many and varied roles in the music business. You will learn how it all works together, how revenue streams flow and how copyrights are protected and exploited. There will also be sessions dedicated to tours of major music businesses and educational institutions in the region, to give you a behind-the-scenes and exclusive insight into the inner workings of venues, studios, record labels and other music enterprises.

This course will be predominantly music business focused, rather than creative and is aimed at those young people who might already have a good level of musicianship but lack the knowledge to develop it into a possible profitable career. There will be time for one-to-one consultations, so you can get specific advice for your exact requirements.
