Our Keychange Pledge

Keychange is an international gender equality campaign which invests in emerging talent whilst encouraging festivals, conferences and a growing range of music organisations and institutions to sign a pledge to include at least 50% women and under-represented genders* in their programming, staffing and beyond. 

Generator is joining the Keychange Pledge because we recognise the huge underrepresentation of women and gender minorities in the music industry. We believe that it is fundamental that we support the acceleration of change needed to create a better and more inclusive industry. We are making the Keychange Pledge to make a positive, active commitment to achieving a gender balanced music industry.

Generator pledges to…

• Booking at least 50% women and gender minorities in our festival line-ups  
• Booking at least 50% women and gender minorities in other live music opportunities  
• Delivering 2 events per year specifically about women and gender minorities in music 
• Delivering an exclusively women and / or gender minority led artist residency as part of our music programme 
• Running a monthly music business spotlight article on our website to promote the work of women and gender minorities   
• Ensure that at least 50% of our keynote speakers, presenters and panelists are women and gender minorities.  
• Aim for a gender balanced workforce  
• Ensure the Board of Generator and Youth Advisory Board is made up of at least 50% women and gender minorities  
• Encourage our talent development partners and other music businesses and organizations we work with we to sign up to Keychange.  
• A commitment to continue to self-educate as an organization around current and changing industry equality issues and develop and amend our pledges, where necessary to reflect this.
