Written Records presents Interchanges, an exciting new music night exploring the places in which genres meet, and in which new sounds are discovered.
Create: Live is a brand new project made possible by the Youth Music Incubator Fund. Over the past year, we have been training 10 young people across the North East to become the next generation of live music promoters, with the opportunity to plan and deliver a show at a local venue.
Written Records presents Interchanges, an exciting new music night exploring the places in which genres meet, and in which new sounds are discovered. The very first Interchanges event will explore the points of connection between jazz, hip hop and spoken word, through a mixture of live performance and recorded work.
WR’s Interchanges graces us with an incredible line up of emerging artists from across the Northern jazz and hip hop scene on 27th Feb. On the cusp of their artistic careers, hip hop inspired jazz instrumentalists Jasmine Quintet will be joining us alongside a local MC, as well as North East beatmakers Chumbo, who will be collaborating with recorded work from hip hop artist and broadcaster Repeat Beat Poet.
The night will feature collaborations between some of the most exciting up-and-coming artists in the North East music scene, whilst also exploring the historical trajectory which links jazz to other genres like hip hop.
From jazz roots to contemporary hip hop, from beats to MC’ing and spoken word, Interchanges will join up the dots, bringing together audiences, artists and sounds – join us for an incredible night of collaboration, improvisation, and connection.
