PRSF: Jumping Jack Flash Fund

PRS for Music Foundation (PRSF) has revealed the first five acts to receive support through its new ‘Flash Funding’ initiative.

Barney Artist, The Pictish Trail, Marsicans, Weirds and the fantastically named Robocobra Quartet will all benefit from the initiative. In keeping with the incessant (yet ultimately marginal) ‘vinyl revival’, they will all have their music pressed on to 500 12” vinyl records. The project is presented in association with Modo, who will offer design support and release strategy mentoring and MCPS, who will ensure that releases are correctly registered so that the songwriters involved feel the full benefits.

Senior Grants and Programmes Manager at PRSF Joe Frankland said: “Congratulations to the first music creators receiving support from our pioneering Flash Funding initiative. The response has been phenomenal and illustrates a real need for support among emerging artists to help produce physical vinyl copies of their music”.

The recipients were chosen by an industry panel, which included John Kennedy (Radio X), Julie Weir (Visible Noise), Nigel Adams (Full Time Hobby), Pip Newby (Play It Again Sam) and Amy Frenchum (Brownswood Records).

The first round of ‘Flash Funding’ attracted 187 applications in just over 48 hours. To find out more about the artists and the next round, go here.
