Generator’s November Playlist: Curated by First Notes Artists, Twayn
This month’s playlist has been curated by a rising duo on our First Notes cohort, Twayn. Supported by Youth Music, the 6-month programme is designed to support emerging artists aged 18-25, helping them from recording their track to its release with mentorship and studio time.

Consisting of twin sisters, Hannah and Grace, they possess talent far beyond their years. Fans of the likes of Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo will likely feel a kinship with the pair. Beginning their collaboration during lockdown, they’ve combined Grace’s lead vocals and songwriting skills with Hannah’s instrumental and production prowess. Their recent EP,
M E S S (2024), confirmed their penchant for introspective songwriting and ethereal harmonies. Recently releasing their first Christmas single, ‘Christmas Market’, it’s another beautifully crafted track easily cutting through an oversaturated market, due to their soulful vocals and sensational storytelling abilities.

Familiar faces on the North East touring circuit, they’re supporting Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra at Newcastle’s City Hall next month. Already no stranger to an international stage, they’ve been finalists in two prestigious songwriting competitions – even working with artists and producers in the U.K., and as far-flung as Nashville, USA.
If you were looking for song recommendations, these are ten tracks personally chosen by Twayn. Read on to find out which tracks you should be adding to your playlist.
- ‘Where Do You Go When You Go Quiet?’ – Frankie Jobling
“We met Frankie on the Making Tracks course. Our favourite Frankie track is probably ‘Peace of Mind’ but ‘Where Do You Go When You Go Quiet?’ has such laid-back, November energy. We are so excited for all the music she’s been making over her break this year!”
- ‘drunk honesty’ – Ivies
“Such a distinct sound, and their records sound exactly like their live performances. Their music feels like a hug to me because it’s a bunch of friends just jamming out. This is our fave from their most recent EP.”
- ‘People’ – Josh Ingledew
“Josh [Ingledew] is our producer, and his own solo music is so impressive. We love the synths and articulation in his melodies in this tune – such an earworm! Whenever anyone mentions the word ‘people’ in a studio session we both immediately start singing this one which probably drives him insane!”
- ‘Eyes On You’ – Elizabeth Liddle, Billy Smith
“’Eyes On You’ has such a good vibe and makes you feel warm and cosy on a cold November night. As harmony fanatics ourselves, this tune really hits the spot for fans of country-inspired duos.”
- ‘Alien On Mars’ – Emma Robson
“We’re obsessed with this song! It’s got a permanent place on our ’Sunday vibes’ playlist because it really exists within its own sonic landscape and Emma has a tone that feels reminiscent of Carole King to us.”
- ‘Holy Smokes!’ – Isabel Maria
“We knew from the first moment we heard this song it was going to be a hit, and it’s proven very popular with Isabel Maria fans. If you love Lizzy McAlpine and Taylor Swift, you will absolutely adore Isabel’s music.”
- ‘Four Seasons’ – CITRUS
“This chillaxed love song is just the cutest. The harmonised high notes at the end are to die for!”
- ‘Paris Night’ – Imogen & The Knife
“Dare we say this is the perfect piano ballad?! Her tone and intonation are completely original, and her music is so beautiful.”
- ‘Laundry Day Dreaming’ – ERNIE
“This one feels chill, crisp and perfect for November. It’s the perfect soundtrack for a wintery walk. Something about the line ‘and a part of me died on that stage’ hits differently as musicians ourselves. Ernie is such a brilliant lyricist and we are determined to see him live for his next headline!”
- Chess – Rivkala
“We are loving the timeless, jazzy vibes of Rivkala’s latest single. The tempo changes are so cool too! If you’re a fan of RAYE then you will adore her music. When you listen, it makes you feel like you’re in an underground Jazz bar sipping a martini!”
A delicious slice of local talent, give them all a try and adopt your favourites before the end of the year.
