Tipping Point Announces Two Commissioned Performances for Tipping Point Live 2019
Tipping Point is excited to announce two brand new commissioned performances which will happen on the Friday night of this year’s festival!
Artists were able to apply for a bursary of up to £500 to support the creation of new collaborative projects to be performed at Tipping Point Live 2019.
We were looking for imaginative applications that included some of the following elements:
• The creation or presentation of new material
• Bespoke and unique reworkings of existing material
• Collaborations between artists from different genres
• Collaborations across different art forms or disciplines
After so many high-quality applications we are delighted to have chosen the following artists to create new work for the festival…
Brad Field: Star & Shadow Cinema – 10pm
Brad Field will be launching his new project at Tipping Point Live 2019. His unique set up features a combination of electronically augmented drum kit, midi operated pipe organs and live triggered visuals.
His amazing set will wrestle with acoustic, percussive and electronic sounds, resulting in a visceral collision of breathy pipes, improvised hip hop beats and insistent krautrock trances. The set will be performed in collaboration with sound designer and artist Tim Shaw who specialises in tapping into the potential of sound and vision as a creative partnership, and manufactures devices that respond to midi, light, oscillations and rhythmic input.
Check out Brad Field’s new video ‘Shivved’ here.
This will be a live performance which fuses Brad Field’s musical expressions with a spectacular and real-time evolving visual backdrop. With influences from the likes of Warm Digits, Public Service Broadcasting and Cornelius – this will be a rare and special show for the festival and not one to be missed!

Sauvage x Lila Naruse x K. Pfenich – 9pm
The second of our commissions will be an audio-visual collaboration between well know art-rock experimenters Sauvage, contemporary dancer, Lila Naruse and audiovisual artist K. Pfennich.
The newly produced performance will explore the close relationships between music and movement and will be driven towards irresistibly danceable grooves, with inevitable audience participation and a visual backdrop accompanied by ambient samples under intricate arrangements.
This project would also culminate in a video release of one song, with shots of the live show on the day and the audience doing their thing!
