Our next Open Deck night will be a break from the normal format as we welcome label manager Morgan Bennett to share vital knowledge for breaking through in the musical world.
April’s Open Deck night will be a break from the normal format as we welcome another industry member to share vital knowledge for breaking through in the musical world. There will be a Q&A session to start followed by one floor of Open Deck slots.
Morgan Bennett is a music industry professional from Newcastle and a true success story from the region. Label manager for Trick Label and tour manager for Patrick Topping – his skills stretch to graphic design, 3D animation, photography and videography.
If you’d like to hear some of Morgan’s invaluable insight on his journey and making it in the industry then join us next Tuesday from 7pm. One floor of Open Decks will follow the Q&A with Morgan where he will be on hand to check out new talent and chat to people.
We’d also like to encourage more female & non-binary DJ’s to come forward – the percentage who’ve applied so far is staggeringly low and something we’re aiming to address moving forward. If you have a friend that may need that little bit of a nudge to play outside their bedroom for the first time, get them to fill the form out and apply.

We’re opening our doors once a month to welcome the DJ’s of tomorrow to show us what they’ve got on our two amazing soundsystems.
Whether you’re looking for more experience on a professional club set up and on a club system, or you’re looking to impress and meet some of the cities promoters in attendance – we’ll be looking to link up new DJ’s with the right crews and hopefully injecting some fresh talent into events in World HQ as well as all across the city.
We’ll be doing this monthly from November onwards so will be plenty of opportunities in the future if you are unsuccessful. Please note 50% of slots will be kept for non male & other protected groups, if they are not filled then they will be opened up to all applicants.
Representatives from World HQ & Generator will be in attendance at every event. We will also be inviting local promoters to drop in and hopefully catch their next resident playing.
Please note:
All DJ’s must bring their own headphones and needles if you’re planning to use vinyl. Slots will be 20 minutes long.
We will have CDJ & vinyl set ups on both floors of World HQ with the mixer being either a Pioneer DJM or Allen & Heath.
Look out for an email from a World HQ/Generator representative in the week prior regarding slots
