We are very pleased to announce a brand new songwriting residency for emerging artists and music creators (aged 18-25) across the North East.
Launching at the Academy For Music & Sound in Gateshead on Monday 17th – Friday 21st February, the residency will focus on developing 12 artists’ songwriting skills and professional practices by exploring ways of writing across different genres, working to briefs and collaborating/co-writing.
Facilitating the residency will be prolific songwriters Joe Hammill (Cattle & Cane, Lucy Spraggan) and Hattie Murdoch (Blackbutter Records, Trafik) who will share their expansive knowledge of co-writing & collaborating.
Award-winning British songwriter Joe Hammill has accumulated over 35 million Spotify streams (including numerous New Music Friday playlists) via his co-write cuts, as well as international chart success and extensive airplay from the likes of BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Radio 1 (more info here).
Singer, songwriter and producer Hattie Murdoch has scored synchronisations with CBS, charting co-writes and BBC Radio airplay from her collaborating and top-lining work with the likes of Hannah Trigwell, Trafik, Markx and Das Kapital, alongside her roles working for the likes of Blackbutter Records and APG (more info here).
