A Festival, A Parade launch deafening new single ‘The Vineyard’
Raucous alt-rockers A Festival, A Parade launch deafening new cut The Vineyard, the latest single taken from their upcoming EP Stay Away From Me out 26th October.
Lead by frontman Joe Allan’s brooding vocals and lead guitarist Reece Spencer’s frantic, pummelling guitar work, the band’s latest effort evokes immediate comparisons to acts including Preoccupations and Mogwai, providing further proof of their new direction and refined sound.
With a slew of festival appearances at the likes of The Great Escape and Hit The North under their belts this summer, along with widespread online (The Line Of Best Fit, DIY) and radio (BBC 6 Music) coverage, the band are well-placed ahead of their extensive UK tour starting later this month in support of Sam Fender.
Discussing their latest release, the band revealed: “The Vineyard is named after Weinbergspark, a public part in the centre of Mitte, Berlin. By day, it’s a lovely, peaceful area where families relax around the lily pond. By night, it’s a meeting place for young adults to drink and dance”.
“We loved embracing both sides of the park, so with this track we’ve tried to capture both the dainty, dreamlike qualities and the darker, more energetic elements of it all in one. We think it’s a fitting tribute to a place that is very special to our band”.
Speaking on the video accompanying the track, the quartet stated: “The Vineyard video is basically, following someone on a quest for happiness, and failing to do so. It’s a bit of a light hearted insight into the typical, conventional routes to happiness, and how they’re not all that they’re made up to be. It’s our kind of funny way of getting the point across that, even people with active lifestyles and a vibrant social presence can often struggle behind closed doors, and that we should be more mindful of this and talk to people who may be suffering in silence. We shot the video with our visionary friend Josh Aitken, who worked tirelessly to put our ideas into practice – most important of which being that Ollie (our bass player and leading actor in The Vineyard video) was uncomfortable throughout the entire process”.
Produced and mixed by Paul Gregory (Lanterns On The Lake), A Festival, A Parade’s The Vineyard is out 4th October via Tipping Point Records (Azekel, Bryde, Eliza and the Bear) and will be available on all digital platforms.
