Durham University Business School To Support Chamber QES
Durham University Business School and North East England Chamber of Commerce have joined forces to maximise the impact of the region’s largest independent business survey.
North East England Chamber of Commerce’s Quarterly Economic Survey (QES)is a long-standing analysis of the region’s business situation and is regularly quoted in Parliament by MPs campaigning on key issues.
Jonathan Walker, Chamber assistant director of policy said: “The Business School is the perfect partner for our QES and its important work into what difficulties and opportunities our businesses are looking at during the year. The tremendous research track record of the Business School team into issues such as examining total factor productivity, rather than just labour, is a great fit for us. We’re very grateful for their associate sponsorship support.”
Peter Allen, Associate Dean for Engagement and Impact said: “In the current climate of uncertainty, we are delighted to be collaborating with the work of the Chamber to identify the challenges faced by North East businesses. By bringing together the insights from the QES with the knowledge within the School on economics and business, we can help support the business community of the region to successfully address these challenges.”
Executive Dean for Durham University Business School, Professor Susan Hartsaid: “Combining the survey results with our world-class research in business and economics will provide even greater insight into the challenges before us and offer possible ways forward to create greater wealth and wellbeing across the region.
“Durham University Business School is internationally accredited and has an international perspective but our roots lie deep here in the North East and its vibrant business community.”
The next QES results will be released on Wednesday 9 October and there will be a breakfast briefing on Friday 11 October at the Holiday Inn, Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne. Senior academics from the Business School will be speaking at the launch.
