Meet The Coach – Jane Longrigg

We are pleased to welcome into the business coaching family, Jane Longrigg.

I describe myself as ‘a peruser & admirer of art, design, photography, fashion, interiors, music, architecture, flower design & all things that make me tick’.

I am also a creative business woman, a wife & a mother to two young boys – Sam & Thomas, 8 and 5 respectively. Thomas my youngest boy has just begun full time school, and for that reason I thought this was perfect timing to take on this additional role of Business Mentor at Generator.

I have known and worked indirectly with Generator since it’s early life through my role at Loft Music, a multi-faceted music business based in Newcastle. Having admired Jim’s vision & leadership at Generator and having watched over the decades how the organisation has diversified and grown, I am really thrilled to become part of the dynamic team offering my services as business support and mentor within the music, digital and creative sectors.

With a language and international marketing degree, I have lived and worked in various cities across the world, in advertising & design, and then in music marketing alongside my freelance work helping market small creatives such as photographers, artists & interior designers.

My ongoing work with Loft Music has allowed me to experience first-hand the ever changing music market, both here at Loft’s Newcastle HQ and also in New York, USA, where we were lucky enough to spend time marketing sync music through UKTI trade missions.

My other recent side-lines are as a collaborator for a fab London based mum’s online network called ‘High Five Mama’ – where I image source for their articles. This work is thought provoking as I am the consumer (as a fellow mum!) too, so gain weekly insight from other mums all around the globe! My other pet project currently is a kitsch but cool jewellery website I am setting up currently – hoping to go live later this summer…

Working in the creative industries can often feel like we live the road less travelled, which is good but sometimes testing, however my husband and I are very grateful for its flexibility to allow us both to still continue to run businesses we have a genuine passion for, alongside the eternal aim to get this tricky work-home-life balance just right!
